Within our church:

Disciple:

Becoming Disciples through Bible Study, a 38-week in-depth course is offered annually. "The DISCIPLE Bible Study program is designed to develop strong local churches through the in-depth study of Scripture. Through DISCIPLE, persons are strengthened in their faith and guided into service and ministry. Strong, biblically nourished leadership will help your church grow in vitality and Christian discipleship" (Cokesbury.com).

Companions In Christ

Companions In Christ is a series of six to nine week modules focusing on study and practices for spiritual formation are offered annually. Among the topics covered are methods and practices of prayer, praying through the use of Scripture, grace, forgiveness, pilgrimage, and discerning God's call.

Hunger Task Force

Hunger Task Forceworks to provide food for the hungry in our community and advocates for change that will help eliminate hunger. One program is the summer sack lunch program, serving lunch in cooperation with the Blackfoot School District for three weeks in August. Another program is the Community Dinner Table, a consortium of twelve faith communities in Blackfoot that provides a hot meal every Tuesday night from late October through March. These dinners are prepared and served at Jason Lee, so there is always plenty of opportunities for service.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on alternate Saturday mornings to knit and crochet prayer shawls. Instructions are available for non-knitters who would like to learn the simple basic stitches required for the shawls.

United Methodist Women (UMW)

The United Methodist Women is a national organization, with local, district, conference, and national levels. Our local unit has four smaller groups, called circles, which meet monthly. All four circles come together for a general meeting and luncheon on the second Thursday of each month. The mission of this organization is to support and provide services to women and children. Donations are made on behalf of this group to local and national charities. These circles provide health kits, school kits, layette kits, and sewing kits for mission projects. Funds are raised through the annual bazaar, the rummage sale, and other occasional events. All women of the church are invited to participate, and membership in the church is not required.

United Methodist Men (UMM)

The United Methodist Men do not meet regularly, but have a lot of fun cooking and serving their annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner the evening before Ash Wednesday, The Easter morning Breakfast, and parking cars during the Eastern Idaho State Fair in September. They provide a scholarship each year to a student in technical/vocational courses. A weekend retreat in early September at Island Park is becoming a favorite tradition. A little bit of fishing, a little bit of devotion, a whole lot of good food and fellowship are the highlights. You do not need to be a member to enjoy the retreat.
